VW Karmann “El Ghia”

Another quick version of a concept if a Ghia was made into an El Camino pickup. Slide the driver cabin forward and shorten the door. Collapsible convertible roof. Elongated rear fender shape but retain original styling. Hard tonneau cover. Front wheel drive ala early VW MK1 (Golf / Rabbit / Caddy) platform. Thus a really low bed cargo load height possibility.

Inspiration. I remember the SoCal metal shapers Troutman & Barnes built two Porsche 914’s converted to pickups for small errand running. One for themselves and for the Aase Brother’s. No idea of what happened to them but they are still memorable 40+ years later to myself.
