1971 Maserati Boomerang

The Maserati Boomerang was a concept car designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro. First revealed at the Turin Motor Show in 1971, the design language of sharp angles and wedges ultimately evolved into the Maserati Bora, Lotus Espirit, DeLorean and other sedan designs. (and can be seen on cars today via evolution)

I’ve admired this unique design for decades but always thought it was a bit “broken” given the front wheel opening shape, rear decklid treatment and transition to cockpit roof, side vent treatment and the ungainly transition from windshield base to front bumper. Thus I took inspiration from the evolved Maserati Bora and DeLorean applications and applied that backwards to Giugiaro’s original creation. Wheels are plus 2 in size but tire diameter is the same as original.
