1962 Maserati 3500 Vignale Spyder

Just a “for fun” styling concept in playing with the lofting of the fenders and proportions of the Maserati and seeing what results. Remember that many of the Italian coachbuilders in this time period were building similar styled vehicles for Maserati and Ferrari. Aside from the grill area itself, typically the Maserati can be identified by the flatter styling of the lofts whereas the Ferrari’s are typically a tad more curvaceous. I just added a bit more volume to the Maser given the idea of use of a modern coil-over suspension system and 2020 Maserati Alfieri wheels/tires. The wheelbase was mildly elongated as I desired a 100mm longer engine compartment for an ECU controlled fuel injected engine installation. Hardtop is shown installed with insulation within to assist the A/C benefits for Arizona summer temperatures. Color is a dark cherry going almost into the black spectrum although I think the Marrone (brown) as used on the 250 Ferrari Lusso (ala ex-Steve McQueen’s) would be perfect as well. (I think Italian luxury sports cars shouldn’t need to be painted the typical show-me-red!)
