1956 Ford Sport Victoria

1956 Ford Sport Victoria

Imagine if Ford utilized the wheelbase and general layout for what later became the 1964 Mustang coupe and had done so in 1956 to create a “Sport Victoria” version as a more sporting offering to the regular sedan platform?

As attentive Ford enthusiasts will realize, this reimagined concept has things moved about a bit. Front wheels are kicked forward. Wheelbase shortened and the rear wheels moved forward in relation to the door. The tail section is shortened for less overhang. The roof structure is slid forward to mimic the Mustang coupe interior offering but retaining the original windscreen location. Other small details are a flipped rear bumper and a slimmed front iteration. A 1956 Ford Thunderbird was the donor for the engine scoop and door handles. And to fit those modern 27in tall front and 28in tall rear tires — the wheel openings are moved up and which also helps to reduce some visual bulk to the lower body.
