VW Snail Camper
Playful concept from many years ago that is a derivative of someone else’s actual creative build. As a kid, I’d see conversions like this regularly in the Northwest USA with a VW Bus or Beetle front end. They all have seem to have disappeared! Then again given the value of a split window bus today — doubtful we will see these being built again on a regular basis.
If anyone has an “affordable” spare front nose sheetmetal for one of these — I know where it could find a good home! I’d just build a new street rod style box style frame structure for it and go modern small diesel instead. (and with a bit more ground clearance!)
The only real negative of building something like this — every single time you stopped it for fuel, to camp or while on the road — it would generate conversation. At least it would put a lot of smiles on peoples faces unlike most of the RV’s and campers on the road today.
