1959 Ferrari 250 GT SWB Berlinetta Speciale

1959 Ferrari 250 GT SWB Berlinetta Speciale

Originally commissioned by Dr Enrico Wax of Genova, Italy to be constructed by Bertone, it was designed by the 21-year old Giorgetto Guigiaro upon the 250 SWB chassis. Unique features besides the competition chassis (per usual racecar spec) was the brushed stainless roof and rocker panels.

I’ve seen the original car at the concours d’elegances over the years and there are several items that I’d like to change. My version was obviously inspired by the later 250 GT/L “Lusso” in terms of overall proportions with modified fender profiles, overhangs, roof loft and trim / ornamentation. Also I incorporated from the Ferrari 275 GTB elements ala cast alloy wheels (+2in diameter) and exhaust to modernize it without the bling bling of modern Ferrari wheels.
