1955 Lincoln Constellation
The idea for this was “what would the Lincoln Division (Ford Motor Company) have built as an upscale alternative of the 2-seat Ford Thunderbird”?
My concept was inspired by the “Indianapolis” concept created by Carrozzeria Boano of Torino, Italy that was built on a full-size Lincoln chassis for the Turin Auto Show in 1955. Thus I started with the wheelbase (extended 4 inches), overhang, cockpit location and more of the small T’bird and applied the aircraft inspired coachwork of the Indianapolis in a form that I’d personally want.
The name Constellation? Given the aircraft motif and future forwardness and the most memorable aircraft of the era was the Lockheed Constellation.
