1948 Kurtis KK2000

Chassis #318 was the second of eleven Kk2000’s built. The front suspension was changed in September 1948 by Eddie Kuzma.

This was owner J.C. Agajanian’s first Indy car from 1948-1951. Drivers were Johnny Mantz 1948-49. Walter Faulkner 1950 and Troy Ruttman in 1951.

The car was the Pole position car with a new record of 134+ mph in 1950 and was 2nd in the National AAA Championship in 1950.

Wind the clock back on this one to about 1992 I think at the restoration shop! We had a frame, grille and a a few parts and remade the rest for the Tacoma, Washington owner who was a large adult beverage distributor. Good guy and always at the shop for lunch once per week and to converse and laugh.

Pictures are from the restoration shop and then from Monterey when it first ran there. Later years the car was retired to the LeMay Automobile Museum in Tacoma, Washington by the owner.
