Mercedes W154 Gran Prix racer
More parts swapping fun in 3D CAD of a pre-war Merc gran prix racer with a bit of restomod drivetrain within. Reality a real one of these is easily US$30M+ dollars (or was about 10 years ago) and no way would a real one end up like this.
But one thing to look at with all these pre-1960 monoposto gran prix racecars is the simplicity of the body lines. This are not difficult vehicles to make aluminum skins for — and they aren’t all fuse welded together. Also all the panels are held on with a screw / Dzus style of fastener for easy access.
If someone did built one like this, I really doubt they would ever roll into a Cars&Coffee or a car show and see a similar one. Dare to be different is a good thing.
